19th Century Carved Cherubs A Selection to Choose From.. Sevres Style Parian The Love Letter Samson Paris. Sweet German Limbach Miniature Bisque Twin Baby Dolls. Wonderful Carved Wood Creche Angel 1700s! Hand Painted KPM Reticulated Basket 24k Gilding. One girl is saying her prayers; her little sister is already fast asleep in the bed beside hers. A wonderful vignette, the best of Old German workmanship. The bisque is superbly modeled, from the rumpled bedding with the deeply carved lace across the pillows, to the sweet little girls with lovely realistic faces. Delightful and very rare pieces from a lifetime collector.

Late 19th to early 20th C (Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Jugendstil eras). A note on the wonderful beds. They are a very nice example of. The German art form gesamptkunstwerk, or synthesis of the arts, which was THE art form that was strived for during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. It is the marriage of mixed media resulting in a seamless product that is considered the ideal work of art.

The harmony of the design places the emphasis on neither the bisque nor the brass, but on a perfectly balanced synergy of the two. These are quality brass beds. They have all the makings of Marklin pieces. The embossing on the frames is gorgeous. Take a closer look here at one of the beds; and then, just to be assured of the quality and attention to detail, compare it to the embossed mount on one of my crystal Baccarat boxes (next photo).

Made by a fine German maker, certainly the quality is reminiscent of Heubach, but the b isque is marked with model numbers only. Bisque is in remarkably excellent condition. Brass has minor signs of use and wear in accordance with its age.
