Antique Miniature Dolls House CARVED BONE French Napoleonic POW Pianoforte c1760. The pianoforte has a cabinet to the top, with two doors that open with ease to reveal a red interior with shelves. The keyboard lid lifts up to reveal keys and a music book attached to the ledge on the interior of the lid. There is so much detail in this piece. Someone spent a great deal of time creating this special little piece.

Created from bone, the history behind French Prisoner of War pieces is that prisoners collected bones from soup and created beautiful delicate ornate pieces out of them over several years. Pianoforte 8.5cm or 3 3/8" long, 4.5cm or 1 3/4" deep, 15cm or 5 7/8 high. Condition: This pianoforte is exquisitely carved and is beautifully lined in red.

The hinges to the top cabinet are tight and the doors open and close with ease, which is unusual for a piece this old. The keyboard lid opens and shuts with ease. The pianoforte is missing some fretwork from the cabinet top, door and side panel and from the keyboard lid. It is also missing one leg, which I hope someone will be able to replace in time.

It is in great condition for its age of approximately 250 years. There is a little discoloration commensurate with age and use. This collection was inherited and had some of the most incredible POW pieces I have ever seen.

The history and travels it has had, it just needs a loving place to rest.
