Wonderful Antique Gottschalk Blue Roof Dolls House, Original Condition
A very rare and wonderful early German Gottschalk dolls house 2556 in original condition. An example of house 2556 is shown in the book'The Genius of Moritz Gottschalk', and in Moritz Gottschalk'Reprints of Original Catalogue Photographs.
The exterior: The papers are all original. The roof is in good original condition and unusually, still has both chimneys and turrets. The interior: The papers are in very good condition with borders. The ground floor curtains are mostly intact with original pelmets and tiebacks although the fabric is fragile.
There are only remnants of the first floor curtains. The floor papers are in good condition. There is also an original Gottachalk fireplace.
Please look carefully at the pictures as they form part of the description. Defects: The exterior paper has some staining as do the floor papers. The ground floor wall paper is a little faded. One arch moulding over a side window is a replacement as is one of the window support decorations under the porch along with one of the turned attic supports and one window glass is missing. The white line decoration on the doors and attic windows has been re-done as it was worn away.
There are some old woodworm holes. Dimensions, 70cm to the top of the ridge. 76cm to the top of the chimneys from the top of the base. 50cm wide across the back of the house. Base 54cm deep x 74 cm wide. A lovely and very collectable house dolls house and considering the age it is in remarkably good condition. The furniture are a few bits that came with the house.
