Thus, the price on this one will probably not go down here & if it does, it won't be by very much. Our previous 21 years experience with antiques enables us to have a discerning eye when it comes to proper scale in miniatures. 1980's Jane Newman Stepback Cupboard + 22 pieces of Jane Graber Stoneware Pottery & Artisan Rolling Pin (handles painted by me, Chris) This is one-of-a-kind in the sense of the combination of pieces. CUPBOARD- This cupboard is by retired UK artisan Jane Newman. It is unsigned but was bought from the original purchaser who bought it & another piece from Jane & luckily both pieces have the same R for right on the back of the drawer & I have her photos of the other piece & its signature & the drawers compared. She almost always made pieces with perfectly bright, new looking natural finishes, but this piece was aged to look this way on purpose. It measures 6 & 1/16" tall X 3 & 5/16" wide X 1 & 5/8 deep. POTTERY MAKER- Though Jane Graber is planning to fully retire soon & has lowered production, she is still an active member of the IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans) & has been making miniature replicas of 18th- and 19th-century American salt-glaze stoneware for more than 36 years, hand-throwing each piece on a potter's wheel, then painting and signing her work. She is internationally recognized for her craft, has been featured on the cover of Ceramics Monthly, and regularly does solo and group shows in the U. Her work is extraordinary; she is widely recognized as the best living miniaturist potter & without question is definitely the best in terms of stoneware & redware.
In the later-1980s, Jane began hand-throwing replicas of early American sgraffito redware, which is quite popular among her collectors and others who love Americana. Her pieces have great potential for increasing in value & I completely adore them.
CONDITION- The pottery is a few years old but unused & the cupboard is vintage & intentionally aged, has no issues & no wax residue on it anywhere. This way you are protected and so are we. We describe our items thoroughly & offer many photos. Our description is our description, no need to study our clear photos to try to see damage we didn't describe, as we always do our best to look closely for issues beforehand so you won't have to upon arrival.
