When it came to me it was not in a good shape, so. I have completely refurbished it and repainted the outside of the fireplace in heirloom (off) white.
I have renewed the brown paintwork to the mantelpiece. Inside the brick paper is original, but I have'aged' it to give a more worn/ used appearance.
I have fixed it to a new base, covered in grey flagstone paper. There is a hole in the back where a light bulb could be threaded through if required. Overall the fireplace with base is nearly 17cm wide, 7.5cm deep and 16cm high. It is unusual to find a hearth a little deeper like this, so I have made the most of that by adding a heavy cast iron black'Queens' stove. This is a real antique from the 1900s, used as a toy or salesman's sample. These are hard to come by, especially in good condition or with any of their original set. The original pipe at the back I have glued into position, because otherwise it wobbles about. The resting tray on the left hand side is still loose.
The hob discs are also loose, these are not the originals, but slimmer newer replacements. The bucket of coal, scoop and cauldron are part of the original set. The stove is not fixed into the surround, and can fit easily inside. The stove is approximately 7.5cm wide, 5.5cm deep and 9cm high.
I have also included a Peter Fagan ceramic cat with a ball of wool, a tiny porcelain mouse by Hagen Renaker, 3 porcelain casserole dishes with removable lids, 2 silver coloured candlesticks with'candles', a porcelain shoe, a broom, a black metal kettle and a tiny orange painted metal pumpkin casserole dish with removable lid. These items are all loose and can be rearranged to suit. Please note the kettle lid is not removable. Please also note the casserole dishes on the mantelpiece have lids with slots for spoons, which are not available. The doll is not included. From a smoke free home.
